What is ARA’s Young People’s Service?
As part of Bristol’s ‘Opening Doors’ early intervention team, we offer one-to-one support, working with young people under 18 who use alcohol or other drugs, or who are affected by someone else’s substance use.
The early intervention team workers aim to support young people at the very earliest opportunity, in order to prevent serious problems from occurring. We usually see young people for between 1 and 6 face to face sessions, but some people have more than this.
We also provide free interactive education workshops for older teenagers in colleges and youth projects throughout Bristol. In addition workshops can be tailored to focus on particular issues such as legal highs, cannabis and mental health.
For professionals working with young people we offer free training in delivering alcohol education sessions. The training covers five topics including attitudes towards alcohol, effects and risks involved in using alcohol and signposting to extra support.
