North Somerset Services

ARA North Somerset is a specialist drug and alcohol service working within Tiers 2 & 3 of the Models of Care framework. The main office is based in Weston-super-mare, on the Boulevard, a short walk from the Town Centre.

We have a satelitte service at both Bourneville and Portishead on a Friday.

The staff team is made up of 16 employed personnel and an excellent group of 10 volunteers offering the following range of services:

Structured Day Programme for clients who are working towards total abstinence; The SDP Team also offer an Aftercare & Relapse Prevention service.

Needle exchange with Harm Minimisation advice, blood borne virus support and motivational links into the core service;

One-to-One core counselling for those misusing alcohol and drugs and then referral on to relevant services;

Drop-In services for those misusing alcohol and drugs;

Community Care Assessments for those needing residential treatment; &

Satellite services in Portishead and GP based Counselling in Clevedon.

The North Somerset service has been granted the Drug Intervention Programme (DIP) contract offering the following services for clients involved in the criminal Justice system.

Drug Arrest Referral;

Prison Resettlement including wrap around services;

Development of structured group, mentoring and education, training and employment opportunities;

One-to-One counselling and Care Planning services;

Management of statutory orders such as DTTO’s, DRR’s and DIR.

We are a unique service in Weston-super-Mare with a growing reputation for working positively with the hard to reach client group. There are strong links with other services within the region.
