ARA's Mission Statement
About Us
Drug and alcohol misuse and dependency ruins lives and families. It represents a huge cost to the community and society generally - but there is hope because treatment works! For 21 years the Addiction Recovery Agency (ARA) has been providing hope, through treatment, to thousands of people experiencing problems because of drug and alcohol misuse and dependency. Lives have been changed, families restored and communities healed as a result of the wide range of successful treatment interventions offered by the charity in Bristol and North Somerset. With over 60 staff and 20 volunteers ARA is now one of the largest voluntary organisations providing drug and alcohol treatment services in the South West. The organisation offers a full range of treatment and support, with a focus on abstinence-based services together with a specialist alcohol service in Bristol, and harm reduction services in North Somerset. Services are provided by a dedicated and committed team of staff and volunteers operating from four main locations in Bristol and North Somerset with some services delivered from satellite locations such as GP surgeries. ARA works closely with the Criminal Justice services to ensure treatment is available to those whose drug or alcohol misuse has led them into crime. Working in Partnership with drug and alcohol commissioners, in addition to other service providers, is key to the successful delivery of treatment and support. ARA is committed to delivering seamless services. ARA offers a professional service with trained staff and volunteers who are supported in undertaking accredited training and achieving recognised qualifications. The organisation recognises the importance of high quality supervision and support as well as a good working environment with access to the latest IT facilities. ARA is actively involved in local Drug Action Teams as well as the Bristol Drug Services Providers’ Forum. It is a founding member of the European Association for the Treatment of Addictions UK (EATA) and is a member of DrugScope and Homeless Link. ARA's advice and guidance services are nationally recognised with Matrix accreditation and, in 2005, ARA achieved Investors in People which was re-accredited in 2008. |
