Alcohol Services for Lesbians and Gay Men

Bristol Alcohol Service values individual's experience; to this end we want to make our services available to all sections of our local community.

Gay men and lesbians experience a wide range of lifestyles, success and problems. We try to respond to individual needs by setting plans and goals which you, the individual, wants.

Some gay men and lesbians experience problems around alcohol and drugs. This may be because of fears and concerns about their sexuality. We recognise that "coming out" as a lesbian or gay man is still a difficult thing to do. Other gay men and lesbians may have difficulties around alcohol and/or drugs which they do not consider to be related to their sexuality. We aim not to make assumptions as to why you may need our support.

Obviously gay men and lesbians often meet in bars and clubs where drinking goes hand in hand with meeting people. We can provide information and advice about safer drinking.

Bristol Alcohol Service works with other groups and individuals in the local gay community. We can offer group and one to one support to gay men and lesbians concerned about their alcohol use. We can also offer one to one support to partners and families who may be concerned about the person's alcohol use.
